Maroubra studio
Felicity’s studio is located in her garden and is largely powered by solar panels.
She uses a combination of hand building techniques and the pottery wheel. She experiments with clays, slips, glazes and firing methods.
Raku firing
Felicity is interested in Raku firing, a technique that originated in Kyoto, Japan in the 16th century. This technique involves removing work from the kiln while it is red hot and cooling rapidly in combustible materials (paper or sawdust). This process results in unpredictable colours and finishes and creates unique pieces.
Felicity assists the Ceramic Study Group in Sydney on their Raku firing days.
